Please do not touch the artwork.
A response to the brief “create a wearable sculpture that encourages social distancing in a particular setting”; I chose the art museum.
Borrowing from the existing protocols of “do not touch artwork”, I decided to adopt the form of a deconstructed Greek sculpture, taking inspiration from Corinthian columns, marble-carved drapery, and fluted ornaments. To further deter close contact, I constructed delicate paper forms and attached them to an asymmetrical wire frame to convey a sense of fragility and instability. My intention is that such gravity defying properties will generate interest, specifically interest that knows to maintain a protective distance alike preserving the beauty of a soap bubble.
