Garden of Truths*
Remember when people
Used to say “jinx”
When two words clashed
Words that are the same
In sound and spelling
But meaning
Know one knows
For one is shut up
Before bad luck comes
I guess it wouldn’t matter
If it was the same narrative
Surely to keep one alive
Is more than enough
The rest would be redundant
Much like this declarative
But the difference is
We will never know
What the unsaid holds
Indeed
It’s hard to listen
When voices overlap
It might seem convenient
To just clear the weeds
Yet should you know
It is the rose you want
Inquiry would be unnecessary
But even if a narrow search
Is all you want
What if the rose hid under
Small talk and clutter
What if the rose was only beautiful
When compared to the rest
What if the rose was just blooming
And needed protection under
Rhetorical safety nets
Perhaps it’s not so promising
To burn off all the weeds only to find
That the rose you had in mind
Doesn’t exist in real life
Please don’t confuse paths of
Presuppositions, guiding questions
As remotely similar to open inquiry
Before you attempt to find similarities
Between wander and search
Distinctions are not exclusively
Used to determine hierarchy
They are often just for clarity
Sometimes false certainty
But let us try to achieve what we intend
And not mislead ourselves
Onto paths that lead us
Further away from where
We want to land
Further from flowers
Those we shall decide to pick or leave
Once we actually find the garden
And examine
