Philosophy Club
A t-shirt design for members of the Undergraduate Philosophy Club at the University of Michigan. As vice president of the club, let me also share our purpose: to give students an opportunity to present, defend, and sharpen their philosophical views in a casual but constructive atmosphere.
The t-shirt design is intended for two main audiences and purposes; a) for members to create solidarity and b) for other students on campus to attract new members.

The illustration is a visual compilation of philosophical thought experiments and concepts. Thought experiments are devices of imagination often used in Philosophy to illustrate a point and gage intuitions about a matter. Because Philosophy covers a vast range of topics, it is unlikely that one will know of all the thought experiments included in the design.
Between members, the design serves as a fun identification game, an opportunity for members to share their own thought experiments and a catalyst for discussion. Towards other students, the thought experiments become bite-sized conversation starters that help eliminate the unfortunate intimidation that is often associated with Philosophy, appealing to potential members of all backgrounds.
A few of my favourite thought experiments: Russell’s Teapot, The Locked Room, Functionalism and The Chinese Room.
