Modern Art for Kids

Now available: Amazon Barnes & Noble

Commissioned by Stephanie Poon, founder of Little City Tales, I created illustrations for Modern Art for Kids, an art history inspired activity book for young children. The book introduces 18 prominent Artists, contextualised through the development of 12 art movements of the modern art period. Each Artist is represented with an illustrated portrait, biographical details, a short story about their work ethic, philosophy and influence, and a corresponding up-cycled craft activity.

Using bright colours and scenic double spread illustrations, the book enhances storytelling and creates the space for kinaesthetic engagement, promoting learning that is fun, immersive, environmentally conscious and curiosity driven. Below are select illustrations and preliminary mockups of the book.

Little City Tales is a lifestyle blog advocating art, sustainable living and craftsmanship; find them on Instagram here. Stephanie Poon is a mother of three and a cultural arts strategist by profession; learn more about Stephanie here.
