3 Colours, 3 Strokes

A personal exploration on how facial expressions can be represented through three colours and three strokes per colour (a total of nine strokes only). For lack of a better word, “strokes” refers to a loose shape created by the brilliant fill tool on the Paper by FiftyThree app. Click here to see the tool in action!

The project was inspired by gesture drawings, an exercise where quick sketches are done to capture the essential features of a live model in a matter of minutes. An illustration was created every day for twenty-five days.
